Patrice & Elijah ~ Engaged in LA via NY!!

Patrice is a superb vocalist and actress and currently plays the character of Effie in the landmark broadway musical Dreamgirls – which is currently on tour.
Elijah on the proposal:
I proposed to her at Ma’kai Restaurant & Lounge in Santa Monica, CA. We had just arrived in Los Angeles that afternoon for the beginning of her Dreamgirls tours 6-week run there. I got us a table with an open flame in the middle, which was very practically romantic on a cold and rainy night. We had an amazing dinner, during which I brought up the topic of marriage. She was engaged in the conversation with a smile on her face, but assumed I was just speaking about the distant future. She was completely unaware of what was about to happen, so much that she kept changing the subject which ruined my proposal segue several times! I told her I was very serious about starting the next chapter of our lives together, to which she responded, “I know, baby… Me too!” in a very nonchalant manner. I then said, “I mean right now.” I pulled her to the edge of the seat around our booth-style table, got down on my knee, pulled the Jared Galleria of Jewelry ring box from my sock and said “Patrice, I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?” Already in tears, she threw herself onto my shoulder, pouring tears of joy (and makeup) onto my brand new suit jacket. She didn’t actually say yes for about 10 minutes, after I reminded her “You know, you still haven’t answered the question!” The entire restaurant was aware of the proposal, so afterward the staff turned the music up very loud, playing Frank Sinatra’s “Just the Way You Look Tonight”! Our waitress brought us champagne and we received thunderous applause!
Patrice’s Reaction:
It was the most beautiful proposal I could ever imagine! Despite the fact that I kept interrupting what was to be his proposal, I heard him speak each word of gratitude and expression of love towards me. I smiled so hardly that my cheeks were sore for days!

Just to be clear..I am absolutely kidding. Patrice Covington is one of the most AMAZING singers I’ve worked with and I have been nothing but honored to join her on stage! I wish you and Elijah all the joy and happiness in the world!
